The Rocket Launch Audio Library

We have captured never-before-heard high quality audio of rocket launch events, from the Space Coast to Starbase. Our Audio Engineer, Andrew Keating, built custom microphones that he specifically designed to bring out the audio details of roaring rocket launch events and ambient pad audio. Now, he is curating rocket launch audio albums for your listening pleasure.

Starship Super Heavy Flight Test #1

These are various tracks from the first flight test of SpaceX’s Starship Super Heavy from across various distances and locations featuring launch from 420 meters away, slowed audio, impacting projectiles and the faint sound of an exploding Starship and Booster. Each track was curated by our Audio Engineer, Andrew Keating, with two “crowd” audio contributions by our esteemed volunteer, Mykel Castillo.

Starship SPMT Rollout Sounds

SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transport) audio is some of my favorite audio events to capture at Starbase. There is a chorus of electric motors that drive the axles can sound very musical. There are beautiful oscillating harmonic overtones that sound like singing wine glasses. As the SPMT passes you then hear the diesel generator at the rear of the vehicle overtake the clean tones of the electric motors.
