For the past year and a half, I have been developing and touring variations of shows to a variety of crowds around the globe under my artist name, Annu. Cosmic Perspective, Earthglow, The Evolution of Music, and Humanity in the Stars were all born out of the same desire to share my passions of passions in unique and immersive ways. Each version caters specifically to the crowd and scenario it’s intended for, and I learn something new each time I approach a new crowd with these concepts.
During these shows, I use my experimental music glove technology to orchestrate, live, all of the music, sound effects, and cinematic visuals that carry the story along. I take audiences through the evolution of music (thus, our species), and carry us into the future where we ponder the transformative power of human spaceflight, and the ways in which we will take our humanity with us wherever we go. It aims to offer an analogous taste of the Overview Effect right here on the surface of planet Earth—the great inspiration that weaves its way into all of the work I create.
On July 19, 2023, I presented for an intimate crowd at the annual Polsinelli law dinner. Having a chance to get to known the guests prior to the show offered a surprisingly enriching outcome. I felt more connected to the audience, come show-time, and this affected the authenticity, emotion, and flow of the experience.
I love learning the ways in which these themes affect the varied audiences I present for. Whether already space enthusiasts, industry professionals, or someone completely foreign to these concepts, I gain new insights from each audience member that engages with me after the show. Each new perspective enriches and fulfills this work, and informs the next iteration of the show.
I extend a special thank you to Emily Peyser for inviting me to this very special event.
