Starship SN9 launches next to SN10
Local families and others that traveled far and wide gathered in late January to witness a spectacle straight from a science fiction novel. As Starship SN9 (Serial Number 9) sat tall on the pad, SpaceX workers slowly rolled SN10 down that once-lonely highway to meet its twin.
Days after the two Starships joined each other on the pad, SN9 made its debut, lifting off for a mostly-successful test flight on February 2. After performing its belly-flop maneuver, SN9’s landing ended in explosion after descending too quickly due to an engine restart failure.
